Ministry of National Defence of Romania

The Ministry of Defence of Romania is the central executive body responsible for formulating and implementing national defence policy. It is headed by the Minister of Defence, a member of the Romanian Government who reports to the Prime Minister and, in matters of military command, to the President as supreme commander. The ministry oversees the Romanian Armed Forces and manages the country's defence cooperation within NATO, which Romania joined in 2004.
