Sweden to deploy Patriot air defense system to Polish city of Rzeszów to protect NATO hub for Ukraine aid
Sweden will send a Patriot air defense system to Rzeszów in southeastern Poland to shield the NATO logistics hub used to deliver military and civilian aid to Ukraine, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson's government announced. The mission, scheduled to begin in early December 2026 and run through the end of 2026 with plans to continue into the first half of 2027, marks Sweden's first deployment of the Patriot system as part of a NATO mission and its first foreign deployment of air defense systems. About 100 Swedish troops from the Air Defense Regiment (Lv 6) in Halmstad will operate the system, with support from Blekinge Air Wing (F 17) in Ronneby.
