Russia hits Kyiv data centers in mass drone and missile strike; ~100,000 left without internet
On 23 September, a massive Russian attack on Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast damaged several data centers, cutting internet access for roughly 100,000 subscribers and disrupting providers including UTELS, Pavutyna and Crazy Network. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said the strikes targeted civilian communications infrastructure that carries air-raid alerts and called on partners to step up sanctions and supply more interceptor missiles. Russia's Ministry of Defense claimed the data centers were deliberately targeted because they handled military and intelligence traffic.
