Makhachkala Commercial Sea Port
The Makhachkala marine commercial port is one of the largest ports on the Russian coast of the Caspian Sea, located in Makhachkala, the capital of the Republic of Dagestan. It is a year-round, ice-free facility that handles tankers, cargo vessels and ferries, and serves as a key hub for transshipping oil, petroleum products and general cargo in the Caspian basin. The port plays a notable role in trade between Russia and the countries bordering the Caspian — Iran, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan — as well as in broader north–south transport corridors.

Ukraine strikes eight Russian infrastructure targets, including Yamalo-Nenets refinery and Makhachkala port
Ukrainian defense forces struck eight Russian infrastructure objects over a 24-hour period, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky. Targets included an oil refinery in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug in Russia's Far North and a sea commercial port in Dagestan on the Caspian Sea, along with objects in the Moscow, Voronezh, Astrakhan and Bryansk regions.
