Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence (HUR) is the military intelligence branch of Ukraine's armed forces. Successor to the Soviet-era military intelligence apparatus on Ukrainian territory, it has served since Ukraine's independence as the country's primary foreign military intelligence service. It is responsible for strategic intelligence gathering and special operations abroad, and is known for regularly publishing assessments and updates about the Russo-Ukrainian war. The directorate is headed by a chief appointed by the Minister of Defence.
