EU extends Ukraine sanctions until 2029 but removes Usmanov and Fridman from list
On 22 September the EU Council renewed its Ukraine-related sanctions regime for an unprecedented 36 months, while at the same time delisting Russian oligarchs Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman. Ukraine called the move 'shameful and unjustified', and several EU member states announced parallel national sanctions against the two. Kyiv is proposing to add Vladimir Lisin and Vladimir Potanin to the next package.
