The Left (political party)
Die Linke (the Left Party) is a left-wing political party in Germany, founded in 2007 through the merger of the Party of Democratic Socialism (successor to the East German SED) and the Labour & Social Justice electoral alliance. It campaigns on social justice, anti-militarism, and the demilitarisation of German foreign policy, and traditionally favours closer engagement with Russia. The party is represented in the Bundestag and in several state parliaments.
