Latvian National Armed Forces
The National Armed Forces of Latvia are the armed forces of the Republic of Latvia, comprising land forces, naval forces, air force and the National Guard. They are subordinate to the Ministry of Defence, with the President serving as supreme commander-in-chief. Latvia joined NATO in 2004 and contributes to the Alliance's collective defence on its eastern flank.
