La France insoumise
La France insoumise (LFI), often translated as 'Unsubmissive France', is a left-wing populist political party in France founded in 2016 by Jean-Luc Mélenchon. It combines elements of ecosocialism and sovereignism, opposes neoliberal economic policies, and advocates expanded social programmes and direct democracy through citizens' initiatives. The party forms the core of the left-wing electoral alliance NUPES and holds seats in the National Assembly under the France Insoumise – NUPES banner. It has positioned itself as the principal force of the French radical left.
