Russian drone strikes on Kyiv kill at least three, injure more than a dozen, cut power and water
On the morning of 8 October 2026, Russian forces attacked Kyiv and parts of Kyiv Oblast with drones, killing at least three people and injuring more than a dozen. Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said the day's toll had risen to three killed and 14 injured, with eight hospitalized. The strikes hit a four-storey shop building in the Solomianskyi district, where two bodies were recovered, and caused drone-debris fires in the Holosiivskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts. Emergency power outages were introduced across Kyiv and several Kyiv Oblast districts, reducing water pressure in four city districts.
