Kremlin calls Trump's energy ceasefire proposal a "very good idea" but ties it to sanctions relief and tanker safety
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on September 15 that Moscow views US President Donald Trump's proposal for an "energy ceasefire" between Russia and Ukraine positively, calling it a "very good idea." Peskov linked any such ceasefire to two demands: guarantees of safe navigation for Russian oil tankers and the lifting of Western sanctions on Russian energy exports. The positive framing stood in tension with Peskov's earlier dismissal of an energy ceasefire and with continuing strikes on energy targets by both sides overnight.
