Russia struck Ukraine overnight on October 6–7 with ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and over 100 drones, hitting Kyiv and at least 12 oblasts in what President Zelensky called one of the "most vile" attacks of the war. Residential buildings were destroyed in Pryluky, Kremenchuk and elsewhere; nationwide casualties range from at least 9 to 19 killed depending on the source. Energy infrastructure was a stated key target, and Ukraine renewed calls for additional Patriot air-defense systems.
