Russian drones hit Kyiv's Pivdennyi Bridge for fourth time in 24 hours, prompting citywide transport closures
Russian drones struck Kyiv's Pivdennyi (Southern) Bridge for at least the fourth time in roughly 24 hours overnight on October 2, with the latest hit reported around 5:00 a.m. Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said emergency services were dispatched to the scene. In response, Kyiv authorities fully closed the Pivdennyi Bridge and the Paton Bridge in both directions, partially restricted the Metro Bridge toward the right bank, and rerouted multiple bus and trolleybus routes via the Darnytskyi and Podilskyi bridges. A separate overnight strike hit upper floors of a residential high-rise in the Darnytskyi district, killing one person and wounding two; in the Holosiivskyi district, debris damaged windows in a non-residential building and several cars, with no casualties.
