Kuybyshev oil refinery
The Kuybyshev Oil Refinery is a major petroleum refinery located in Samara, Russia, and one of the oldest and largest such facilities in the country. It operates as part of Rosneft, Russia's largest state-controlled oil company. The plant played a critical role in supplying fuel to the Soviet front during World War II. It has since undergone multiple modernizations and remains a key supplier of petroleum products in the Volga Federal District.

Drones attacked the Kuibyshevsky oil refinery in Samara, Russia, on the night of 22 September 2026, sparking a large fire at the Rosneft-owned facility. Ukraine's General Staff confirmed the strike on the AVT-5 primary refining unit. The attack coincided with a separate Ukrainian strike on the Bashneft-UNPZ refinery in Ufa and with renewed US appeals for Kyiv to halt refinery attacks.
