Kruonis Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Plant
Kruonis Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Plant (Kruonis PSHP) is the largest pumped-storage facility in the Baltic states, located on the Nemunas River in the Kaunas district of Lithuania. It is operated by Lietuvos energijos gamyba, a state-owned power generation company. The plant has an installed capacity of around 900 MW and serves primarily as a reserve facility for regulating the Lithuanian power system, pumping water to an upper reservoir during off-peak hours and generating electricity during peak demand. Its rapid-response capability makes it a key asset for grid stability in the region.
