United States Senate Committee on Armed Services
The United States Senate Committee on Armed Services is a standing committee of the U.S. Senate responsible for oversight of the Department of Defense and the U.S. armed forces. It writes and reviews legislation on defense policy, military procurement, nuclear weapons policy, and the budgets of the armed services. The committee is led by a chair and a ranking minority member who shape its agenda.

Trump administration moves to spend nearly all of $400 million Ukraine military aid, but no Patriot missiles included
The Trump administration has taken legal obligations to spend nearly all of the $400 million in military aid to Ukraine that Congress approved at the end of 2025. As of the beginning of the week, $307 million had already been contracted, with the remaining $93 million to be locked in before the US fiscal year ends on September 30. The package, funded under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), does not include Patriot interceptors despite ongoing Russian drone and ballistic strikes on Ukrainian cities.
