PACE Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights
The PACE Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights is one of the standing committees of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, dealing with legal and human rights issues within the Assembly's work. Its mandate covers draft resolutions and recommendations on the protection of human rights, the rule of law, the functioning of the European Court of Human Rights and matters of Council of Europe conventions. It is chaired by a member of the Assembly elected from among its ranks.

PACE calls for redirecting frozen Russian state assets to pay Ukraine ECHR compensation
On 30 September, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe passed a resolution and recommendations urging member and observer states to channel Russian state assets held under their jurisdiction into a Council of Europe mechanism that would compensate Ukraine for European Court of Human Rights rulings. PACE characterises the redirection of Russian assets as a lawful countermeasure under international law.
