The Kharkiv City Council is the representative body of local self-government of the city of Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city. It is headed by the mayor, who is directly elected by residents. The council manages the city's communal property, local budget, infrastructure and socio-economic development.

Russian guided bomb strike on Kharkiv residential building injures dozens, including many children
On the night of 28 September, Russian forces struck the Kyivskyi and Saltivskyi districts of Kharkiv with guided aerial bombs. One bomb hit a multi-storey residential building in the Saltivskyi district, destroying the second and third floors and injuring dozens of people, including many children. Search-and-rescue operations concluded with no one found under the rubble, though emergency services rescued 32 people from the damaged building.
