Rubio says ending the war through diplomacy is "unattainable"; Zelensky rejects "diplomatic dead end" framing
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in an interview with the Greek outlet Kathimerini that ending the Russia-Ukraine war through diplomatic negotiations is currently "unattainable" and that the conflict is in a "strategic deadlock" that can be exited only through talks or escalation. He said Russia is demanding full control over Donbas, a condition Ukraine rejects as unacceptable. President Volodymyr Zelensky pushed back against the "diplomatic dead end" characterization and called on Washington to impose tougher sanctions and economic measures on Russia.
