Saab JAS 39 Gripen
The JAS 39 Gripen is a Swedish single-seat, multi-role fighter aircraft developed by Saab for the Royal Swedish Air Force. First flown in 1988, it has been produced in several variants and is operated by Sweden and several export customers, including Brazil, the Czech Republic, Hungary, South Africa and Thailand. The aircraft is designed for short take-offs and landings from dispersed road bases, reflecting Sweden's Cold War-era air strategy, and is marketed as a relatively low-cost alternative to larger Western fighters.
