Germany blames Russia for drone attack on Ukrainian cargo plane at Leipzig/Halle, announces countermeasures
Germany formally accused Russia on 1 September of being behind a drone discovered on 4 August near a Ukrainian Antonov cargo aircraft at Leipzig/Halle airport. Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt cited intelligence and patterns of Russian hybrid operations. Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul announced countermeasures including the closure of the Russian consulate in Bonn and termination of the 'Russian House' agreement in Berlin. Russia denied responsibility; the EU summoned Moscow's ambassador and described the attack as bearing the hallmarks of state-sponsored terrorism.

Zelensky warns Russia's airspace is unsafe for civil aviation due to Ukrainian drone strikes
On September 1, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia's airspace is becoming fully dangerous for civil aviation because of Ukrainian drone operations. He called on foreign ambassadors and airlines to take the risks into account and said Ukraine is ready to pause strikes to accommodate planned meetings in Russia aimed at ending the war.
