Italian Air Force
The Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare) is the aerial warfare branch of the Italian Republic's armed forces. It is organised jointly with the Italian Army and Navy under the Chief of the Defence Staff and is headquartered in Rome. Its combat fleet centres on Eurofighter Typhoon fighters alongside F-35A Lightning II multirole aircraft, and it also operates transport, training and search-and-rescue assets. Italy is a founding member of NATO, and the air force participates in the alliance's air policing and other collective missions.
