Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation is the federal law-enforcement body responsible for investigating the most serious crimes in Russia. It was established in 2007 when investigative units were separated from the Prosecutor General's Office, and it reports directly to the President of Russia. The committee is led by a chairman appointed and dismissed by the Federation Council on the president's nomination.
