The Institute for Nuclear Research is a scientific institution of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, based in Kyiv. It conducts fundamental and applied research in nuclear physics, radiobiology and radioecology, and operates research nuclear reactors.

Russian drone strikes Kyiv nuclear research institute, no damage to reactor
A Russian drone struck the grounds of the Institute for Nuclear Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv on the evening of 30 September 2026. The reactor and safety-critical equipment were unaffected; no casualties were recorded and the fire was quickly put out. Ukraine's nuclear regulator characterised the strike as an attack on a peaceful nuclear installation and as a war crime.
