Shooting between SBU and military intelligence in Kyiv: three wounded, court releases suspect, Zelensky vows dismissals
Two armed clashes broke out on the night of 1 September and the morning of 2 September 2025 in a courtyard in Kyiv's Dnipro district between officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and servicemen of the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR), tied to the case of Stepan Kaplunov, deputy commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK). Three HUR servicemen were wounded. On 3 September a court served notices of suspicion on one SBU officer and one HUR serviceman; on 4 September the Pechersk District Court released HUR serviceman Serhiy Ivanov on personal surety. President Zelensky called the incident "absolutely disgraceful" and announced dismissals of deputy heads at both agencies.
