GRU (Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces)
The Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, commonly known as GRU, is the military intelligence agency of Russia. It operates under the General Staff rather than any civilian ministry and is responsible for military intelligence, military counter-intelligence, and covert operations abroad. Its chief reports directly to the Chief of the General Staff. Over the past two decades the GRU's units have been linked by Western governments to cyber-intrusions, foreign election interference, and sabotage operations in European countries.

Russia's military intelligence (GRU) is expanding sabotage and hybrid operations in Europe and increasingly relying on organized crime networks to target defense industry leaders, including heads of small firms that produce drones or drone components for Ukraine.
