High Council of Justice
The High Council of Justice is a constitutional body of Ukraine responsible for shaping an honest and professional judiciary. Its powers include the appointment, transfer and dismissal of judges, as well as disciplinary proceedings against them. The Council also handles matters of judicial immunity and oversees adherence to ethical standards within the court system.

Ukraine's Prosecutor General dismissed after fleeing abroad and announcing suspicion against NABU chief
On 14 September 2026, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko announced suspicions against NABU director Semen Kryvonos and a person close to the head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP), then left Ukraine that same night citing a PACE session. President Volodymyr Zelensky suspended him by decree that evening, the Office of the Prosecutor General publicly denied any suspicion had been lawfully served, and on 15 September the Verkhovna Rada voted 317 to dismiss Kravchenko. The episode unfolds against NABU and SAP's "Carthage" corruption probe, which exposed a scheme inside the Prosecutor General's Office itself.
