German Federal Prosecutor's Office
Germany's Federal Prosecutor's Office (Generalbundesanwaltschaft) is the central federal prosecution authority of Germany, based in Karlsruhe. It investigates and prosecutes crimes against the state, terrorism, espionage, and other serious federal offences, and is headed by the Generalbundesanwalt. The office gained international prominence over its investigation into the September 2022 sabotage of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines in the Baltic Sea, including related arrest and extradition proceedings in other European countries.
