Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV)

Germany's Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz, BfV) is the country's federal domestic intelligence agency, responsible for counter-intelligence and safeguarding the constitutional order. It reports to the Federal Ministry of the Interior and monitors organizations and individuals deemed to pose a threat to the democratic order of the Federal Republic, including extremist and terrorist groups. The BfV cooperates with intelligence services of other European countries on security matters.
