Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie, BMWi) is the central executive authority of Germany responsible for economic, energy and industrial policy. It is based in Berlin. The ministry's remit includes regulating the energy market — a politically charged area given Germany's reliance on Russian gas — and supporting German industry. It is headed by the Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy.
