Freedom of Russia Legion
The Freedom of Russia Legion (Legion "Svoboda Rossii") is a Russian volunteer armed unit composed of Russian citizens fighting against the Russian armed forces within Ukraine's Defence Forces. It was announced in 2022 and formally incorporated into the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2023. The legion has operated mainly in the Kharkiv sector and other parts of the front, cooperating with other Russian-speaking volunteer formations such as the Khartiia corps. It presents itself as part of the Russian opposition to the Putin regime and advocates democratic change in Russia.
