Federal Ministry of the Interior of Germany
The Federal Ministry of the Interior of Germany (Bundesministerium des Innern und für Heimat) is the central executive body of the Federal Republic of Germany responsible for internal security, migration management and integration. Its remit covers the protection of the Constitution, civil defence, federal-level policing, and policy on refugees and citizenship. It is headed by the Federal Minister of the Interior, a member of the German cabinet. The ministry is headquartered in Berlin.

Germany drafts sweeping security plan against sabotage and drone attacks
Germany's Federal Ministry of the Interior has drawn up a comprehensive plan to counter sabotage and hybrid attacks, including new mobile units capable of intercepting drones, a national cyber shield and expanded AI-driven surveillance. The measures follow a reported drone incident near a Ukrainian military-cargo aircraft at Leipzig/Halle Airport and a sharp rise in suspected sabotage and drone-overflight cases since the start of 2026.
