Federal Criminal Police Office
The Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt, BKA) is Germany's central federal law enforcement agency, placed under the Federal Ministry of the Interior. It investigates serious and organised crime, coordinates operations with the Land police forces, and maintains national criminal databases, including forensic and identity records. Its headquarters are in Wiesbaden.

German investigation names Russian biker as organizer of failed drone attack on Ukrainian plane at Leipzig airport
A drone carrying 1.8 kg of Semtex struck the wing of a parked Ukrainian An-124 cargo aircraft at Leipzig/Halle Airport on the night of August 5, 2026, but failed to detonate. A joint investigation by The Telegraph and Welt am Sonntag identified Russian biker Oleg Levushkin as the suspected organizer and Belarusian agent Andrei Karshakov as the suspected direct executor. On September 1, Germany officially accused Russia of the hybrid attack and announced countermeasures, including closing the Russian consulate general in Bonn.

Germany identifies two suspects in Leipzig airport drone attack, blames Russia
German investigators have named a Belarusian citizen and a Russian linked to Russian military intelligence (GRU) as the main suspects in the 4 August drone attack on Leipzig/Halle Airport. A drone carrying explosives hidden in a vegetable tin can landed next to a Ukrainian Antonov cargo aircraft but failed to detonate because of a faulty detonator. On 1 September, Germany officially blamed Russia for the incident and announced the closure of the Russian consulate general in Bonn and the termination of the agreement on the "Russian House" in Berlin; Moscow responded by closing the German consulate general in St. Petersburg and Goethe cultural centers.
