European Defence Industry Programme

The European Defence Industry Programme (EDIP) is an EU framework adopted in 2025 to strengthen the bloc's defence-industrial base by incentivising joint procurement, production and standardisation of military equipment among member states. It was proposed by the European Commission in March 2024 as a complement to the European Defence Fund and entered into force in May 2025. The programme provides financial support for collaborative armaments projects, aims to reduce fragmentation of European defence markets and includes measures to scale up production capacity and support small and medium-sized enterprises in the sector.
