Druzhba pipeline
The Druzhba (Friendship) pipeline is one of the world's longest oil pipelines, transporting crude from western Siberian and Volga-Urals fields across Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Germany. Built during the Soviet era and commissioned in 1964, it remains a key artery for supplying several European refineries. Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, deliveries through the southern branch via Ukraine have been disrupted, and several countries have reduced or stopped imports of Russian crude carried by the system under sanctions pressure.
