Druzhba oil pipeline
The Druzhba (Friendship) oil pipeline is one of the world's longest, built in the 1960s by the Soviet Union to deliver Soviet oil to the Eastern Bloc. It runs from western Siberia across Russia, Belarus and Ukraine to refineries and consumers in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Germany. The system has a northern branch (to Belarus, Poland and Germany) and a southern branch (to Ukraine and the wider region). It is operated by Transneft on Russian territory and by Ukrtransnafta in Ukraine, and is owned in part by those state pipeline companies. Since Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine, Russian crude transit through Druzhba to Europe has fallen sharply, and sections of the pipeline have been damaged in attacks during the war.
