Downing Street
Downing Street is a street in the City of Westminster, London, known as the location of the official residence and office of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (No. 10) and the offices of the Chancellor of the Exchequer and other senior ministers (Nos. 11 and 12). Its name is widely used as a metonym for the British government. The street is closed to the public and accessible only through a security checkpoint at the junction with Whitehall.
