Russian strike on passenger buses in Kramatorsk kills dozens
On 8 October 2026, Russian forces struck two civilian passenger buses (marshrutkas) in Kramatorsk, Donetsk Oblast, killing dozens of people and wounding others. Initial reports gave 12 dead and 13–14 wounded; by midday the toll had been revised to 30 dead and 18 wounded, and some reports later put the figure at 33 dead. Donetsk Oblast Governor Vadym Filashkin ordered public transport suspended in Kramatorsk and Sloviansk from 9 October and called on remaining residents to evacuate, while President Zelensky appealed for new defence packages from Ukraine's partners.
