Russia strikes Kyiv data centres in 23 September attack, cutting internet for around 100,000 subscribers
On 23 September 2026, Russia hit data centres in Kyiv and the Kyiv region during a massive air attack, knocking out internet and communications for roughly 100,000 subscribers. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said the strikes deliberately targeted civilian communications infrastructure used to distribute air-raid alerts. The attack came hours after President Zelenskyy's talks with Donald Trump in New York and during the 81st UN General Assembly's peace-focused session.
