DniproHES
DniproHES is a hydroelectric power station on the Dnieper River near the city of Zaporizhzhia, one of the largest in Ukraine. It is part of the state-owned energy company Ukrhydroenergo. In addition to generating electricity, the dam carries a road and railway line across the river and includes a navigation lock, making it an important piece of transport infrastructure. The station was built between 1927 and 1932 to a design associated with engineer Oleksandr Winter and was among the first large-scale hydroelectric plants in the Soviet Union. It was heavily damaged during the Second World War and later rebuilt and expanded.
