NABU detains senior Ukrainian prosecutor's office official in "Carthage" call-center cover-up case
Ukraine's anti-corruption bodies NABU and SAP detained Serhiy Kropyva, a senior official at the Office of the Prosecutor General, on charges of running a criminal organization that provided cover for fraudulent call centers and laundered proceeds. At his 6 September bail hearing at the High Anti-Corruption Court, an SAP prosecutor presented investigators' findings describing Kropyva as a "trusted person" of Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko — coordinating repairs at the PG's house in Kozyn, helping arrange a U.S. visa for Kravchenko's wife and a birthday trip to Madrid. Kravchenko denied any involvement, suspended Kropyva and ordered audits and polygraph tests.
