Coreper
Coreper (Comité des Représentants Permanents) is the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the governments of the EU member states to the European Union. It is the main preparatory body of the Council of the European Union: ambassadors from each member state meet weekly in Brussels to broker compromises and shape agendas before ministers convene. Coreper is divided into Coreper II for deputy ambassadors handling general affairs, economic and financial matters, and Coreper I for deputy ambassadors dealing with more technical policy areas.

EU extends Russia-linked sanctions by just seven days amid Slovakia and France dispute
The EU's Committee of Permanent Representatives in Brussels extended the sanctions regime tied to the violation of Ukraine's territorial integrity for only seven days, until 22 September. Slovakia and France are blocking a longer renewal by demanding the removal of Russian oligarchs Mikhail Fridman and Alisher Usmanov from the list.
