Committee of Permanent Representatives of the European Union (COREPER)
The Committee of Permanent Representatives of the European Union (COREPER) is an institutional body of the Council of the EU made up of the ambassadors or permanent representatives of the member states. It coordinates the positions of EU countries ahead of meetings of the Council of the EU and prepares decisions on key issues of European policy. COREPER plays a central role in negotiations on sanctions packages against Russia and other common foreign policy decisions.
