Russia launches massive combined strike on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, leaving 600,000 without power
Russia hit Ukraine overnight on 13–14 October with 39 ballistic missiles and 128 strike drones, targeting energy and railway infrastructure in Kyiv, Kyiv Oblast and Kharkiv Oblast. At least three people were killed in Kyiv, including two in a high-rise building in the Desnianskyi district hit during the first wave around 23:00, and 600,000 customers lost power. President Zelensky described the strike as deliberate and demonstrative, called it unprecedented Russian disregard for the United States, and urged Washington to impose new sanctions and supply additional Patriot interceptors.
