Russian drone strikes hit Kyiv's Pivdennyi Bridge and a Darnytskyi high-rise, shutting three Dnipro crossings
Russian drones struck the Pivdennyi (Southern) Bridge in Kyiv multiple times overnight on October 1–2, 2026, with a hit around 5:00 a.m. on October 2 reported as at least the fourth strike on the bridge in 24 hours. The same wave hit a 25-story apartment building in the Darnytskyi district, killing one person and wounding two. Kyiv authorities fully closed the Pivdennyi Bridge, fully restricted the Paton Bridge, and partially restricted the Metro Bridge, triggering a city-wide transport collapse with major traffic jams and rerouted bus and trolleybus services. The Kyiv City Express ring railway continued to run on its full route and schedule between the two banks.
