Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW)
Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) is a German left-wing populist political party founded in January 2024. It was established and is led by Sahra Wagenknecht, a former Die Linke politician. The party combines left-wing economic positions (opposition to neoliberalism, advocacy for workers' rights) with socially conservative stances, particularly on immigration and on German military support for Ukraine. BSW positions itself as an alternative both to Die Linke and to the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD), and it made an immediate electoral impact in 2024 state elections in Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and Brandenburg.
