Buckingham Palace
Buckingham Palace is the official London residence of the British monarch, serving as the administrative headquarters of the royal household. It has been the sovereign's main residence since Queen Victoria's accession in 1837. Located in the City of Westminster, the palace is used for state occasions, royal ceremonies and official entertaining of visiting heads of state. The present building, originally Buckingham House, was remodelled in the 1850s by architect Edward Blore and later Aston Webb; its famous east front façade faces The Mall. The State Rooms are open to visitors each summer.
