Russia pounds Kyiv with missiles and drones hours after US envoys leave, killing at least 2
Russian forces struck Kyiv with a massive combined missile and drone attack overnight on September 7–8, killing at least two people in the Solomianskyi district and injuring more than 25 others across the city. The salvo of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles and Shahed-type drones came hours after US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner departed Kyiv following a three-day mutual pause on strikes during their visit. Damage was recorded in at least five districts of the capital; Poland scrambled military aviation and put air-defense systems on alert in response.
