BRICS
BRICS is an intergovernmental grouping of major emerging economies, originally formed in 2009 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, with South Africa joining in 2010. The bloc has since expanded to include additional members and positions itself as a platform for cooperation among developing countries and an alternative to Western-led institutions. It operates without a charter, permanent secretariat, or legally binding decisions, holding annual summits hosted by the presiding member state.

Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that any deployment of European troops to Ukraine would mean war with Russia, in comments to Russian propagandists after the BRICS summit in Delhi. He accused European leaders of pushing their populations toward confrontation with Russia and framed discussions of security guarantees for Ukraine as an attempt to revise the outcomes of World War II.
