WSJ: Putin proposes Trump-Xi-trilateral on Ukraine, without Zelensky
The Wall Street Journal reported on 18 October that Vladimir Putin proposed a trilateral summit with Donald Trump and Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the APEC summit in Shenzhen on 18–19 November to discuss ending the war in Ukraine on terms favourable to Moscow. The proposed format does not include Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed discussions are ongoing but said there is no clear understanding yet of the meeting or its agenda, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in Samarkand on 19 October that talks had taken place but did not know whether the meeting had been finalised.
